Odisha reports 245 new COVID-19 cases; tally surges to 6859

Bhubaneswar: Covid-19 tally in Odisha increased to 6859 with 245 fresh positive cases reported in the last 24 hours, informed State Information & Public Relations (I&PR) Department today.

Of new cases, 214 cases have been detected from quarantine centres and 31 are local contacts.

Out of fresh cases, 243 cases have been reported from 19 districts in Odisha and remaining 2 are NDRF/ODRAF personnel returned from Cyclone AMPHAN duty in West Bengal.

While Ganjam district reported the highest number of 96 cases followed by Jajpur (40) and Khordha (28) districts, Bargarh and Jagatsinghpur districts have 10 and 9 cases respectively.

With 245 fresh cases, the total number of active positive cases now stands at 2086. The number of recovered cases stands at 4743. Two more deaths have been reported today from Ganjam district.
