Jajpur, June 21:

The lid has been finally blown off the long standing marital discord within the royal family of the erstwhile Sukinda princely state in Jajpur district of Odisha.

In an FIR lodged against her husband Yuvraj Anil Kumar Singhdeo at the Jajpur Road police station, Yuvarani Aparajita Singhdeo has alleged that her husband was having an extra marital relationship with a woman employed in a company at Kalinganagar. She has accused her husband of torturing her because of her opposition to the affair.

“Based on Yuvarani Aparajita’s complaint, we have registered case no 123 on May 17 under sections 498(a)/307/109 against Yuvraj Anil Kumar Singhdeo and a woman employee of a big company in Kalinganagar who allegedly has a relationship with him,” said Rajib Lochan Panda, IIC Jajpur Road.

On his part, Yuvraj Anil Kumar Singhdeo has alleged that a complaint sent by him through registered post against his wife to the police has not been registered by the police. The police have not acted on his complaint since his compliant, besides accusing the Yuvarani of torturing him, also named a a senior police official of the district in the case, Singhdeo alleged.

IIC Panda, however, clarified that the complaint had not reached him.

Sources said Yuvaraj Anil Kumar Singhdeo has gone into hiding apprehending arrest. Singhdeo, son of Sukinda king Bhudeb Bhupati Harichandan Mohapatra had married princess of Khariar, Aparajita Singhdeo. Shortly after their marriage, she has been subjected to torture at her in-laws’ place under various pretexts, alleged Yuvrani Aparajita.

As a consequence of her husband’s torture, her first pregnancy ended in a miscarriage, she said in her complaint adding she moved out of her in-laws’ place to stay at Ferrochrome colony with her husband and her baby to save herself from the torture of her in-laws.

But even here, her plight was no different here as her husband maintainedan extra marital affair with a subordinate woman colleague at his office and tortured her, she alleged.

“I had no option but to report the matter to the police to get justice as my suffering at their hands crossed all limits,” Yuvarani Aparajita told the media.

On the other hand, Aparajita’s father in-law Bhudeb Bhupati Harichandan Mohapatra has alleged that their daughter-in-law was torturing them with the help of a senior police officer in the district.

He said a case had been filed in the court in the matter on June 6. But under pressure from the senior police officer, the police  was not registering his son’s complaint, he alleged.
