Niali (Cuttack), Feb 12:

Even as the main accused in the murder of Krupasindhu Sahu, a farmer and RTI activist of Nachhigan village under Nialia police station limits in Odisha’s Cuttack district, remains unraced even 12 days after the murder, a fire that destroyed his house on Tuesday night has added a new twist to the case.

krupasindhu murderA team of Crime Branch police, led by the sub inspector, which had arrived at the house of the prime accused Kartika Pani at Krushnaprasad village under Niali police station limits on Tuesday evening, found smoke billowing out of the house.

Following information, ASI of Niali police Sunil Kumar Pati and a fire brigade team rushed to the spot. The firemen later doused the fire. But  all movables assets inside the one-room house of Pani had been gutted by the time the fire was doused.

It may be mentioned that Dilip Jena, nephew of Kartika, had earlier informed the police that his uncle, after murdering Krupasindhu, had kept the body in his house.

The Crime Branch police suspect that the prime accused, who is still at large, might have set his house on fire to destroy the evidence.
