Odisha samiti member candidate’s husband goes missing; Vehicle with blood stain found

Dhenkanal: Husband of a samiti member candidate for the ongoing panchayat polls in Odisha went missing in Dhenkanal district, last night while a scooter driven by him has been found with blood stain on it.

According to reports, Chinmay Kumar Das, husband of Bharati Rath, samiti member candidate for Sankulei panchayat in the district and a resident of Kumardeipur, dropped his wife home last night after election campaigning and left for Bebarta Kateni on the two-wheeler. He had informed her over phone that some miscreants detained and assaulted him midway.

Later, Chinmay’s vehicle was found on Dholpasi-Sankulei road with blood stain on the two-wheeler.

His wife has lodged a complaint in this regard with the Dhenkanal Sadar police. Cops have started an investigation into the incident while efforts were on to trace him.

Voting for the panchayat is scheduled to take place tomorrow.
