Odisha: SCB junior docs withdraw agitation, join work

Cuttack: Junior doctors of SCB Medical College and Hospital here today called off their agitation and joined work following Odisha government’s notification yesterday ordering transfer of HOD of Urology department Dr Dateswar Hotta to MKCG Medical College and Hospital, Berhampur.

The agitating junior doctors called off their stir on the tenth day of their agitation demanding suspension of Dr Hotta whom they accused of engaging them in his private clinic.

Calling off of the agitation was announced by Rajesh Kumar Sahoo, president of SCB Junior Doctors Association today.

However, Odisha Medical Teachers Association (OMTA) has expressed displeasure over Dr Hotta’s transfer.

The OMTA while condemning Dr Hotta’s transfer at an emergency meeting held here today urged the government to reconsider its decision.

“Medical students resorting to agitation on the slightest pretext is setting an unhealthy tradition. This is not acceptable. They should be sensitive to other’s rights,” stated OMTA president Bipin Bihari Pradhan.
