Most parts of Odisha came under intense cold wave today with mercury dipping to below 10 degree Celsius in 14 places in interior and southern districts.
According to a Met release this evening, Phulbani was the coldest place with 5.2 degrees while temperature slumped to single digit in Angul (9), Baripada (9.4), Jharsuguda (8.2), Keonjhar (7.1), Sambalpur (9.1), Sundargarh (7.9), Hirakud (7.6), Bhawanipatna (7.2), Bolangir (8.5), Koraput (8.8), Malkangiri (9.4), Daringibadi (6.3)and Dhenkanal (9.4).
Besides, temperature also came down sharply in the coastal areas where temperature hovered between 10 and 13 degrees in Baleswar (10.7), Chandbali (12.2), Cuttack (12.6), Paradip (13.6), Bhubaneswar (12.2), Talcher (11.4) and Titlagarh (10).
The Met office has predicted that the cold wave condition would prevail in the state till next 48 hours .
