The empowered committee on infrastructure (ECI) headed by Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi today shortlisted Hyderabad-based Quality Care India Limited which manages Care Hospitals for the tertiary care cardiology facility.

Chief Secretary asked the officials to expedite the construction work of the hospital.

The state government aims to operationalise the supers-peciality hospital within next two years for which memorandum of understanding (MoU) will be inked next month, official sources said.

The 100-bed proposed hospital will be constructed in a public private partnership (PPP) mode. The project estimated at around Rs 70 crore facilitated by the state government and Mahanadi Coalfield Limited (MCL), a subsidiary of Coal India Ltd. While MCL will fund infrastructure development and procurement of equipment for the hospital, the private player would look after the operations and maintenance.

Secretaries and senior officials of Health and Family Welfare department, Industries, Works, Revenue and Disaster Mitigation, Commerce and Transport, Housing and Urban Development departments were present in the meeting.

Notably, the state governmet in November last year had approved the proposal of the Health Department for setting up of the hospital in PPP mode.
