Odisha: Srimandir Chhatisha Niyog finalises schedule for Debasnana Purnima, Rath Yatra; details here

Bhubaneswar: The schedule for Debasnana Purnima festival and annual Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath and his siblings was finalised at a meeting of Chhatisha Niyog, the apex body of Srimandir servitors, in Puri town of Odisha yesterday.

Debasnana Purnima festival of Srimandir deities is scheduled to be held on June 4 while Rath Yatra is scheduled for June 20.

Nabajauban Darshan or Netroshav ritual of Lord Jagannath and his siblings would be held on June 19, said an official of Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA).

Bahuda Yatra (Return Car Fest) of the deities is scheduled to be held on June 28, Suna Besa on June 23, Adhara Pana ritual on June 30 and Niladri Bije ritual on July 1, added the official.

As per the schedule, servitors of the 12th century shrine will perform Jalabije ritual of Debasnana Purnima festival within 9.30 am and 11.30 am on June 4. Chhera Panhara ritual would be performed at 12.15 pm soon after the completion of Snana ritual. Hati Besa ritual of the deities would be performed within 12.30 and 2.30 pm.

Sahana Mela Darshan on the Snana Bedi (bathing altar) would be held from 6 pm to 9.30 pm. The deities would be taken to the Anasara Gruha (asylum for the sick) through the ceremonial Pahandi at 10 pm on June 4, said the official.

On the occasion of Rath Yatra on June 20, the Pahandi procession of the sibling deities along with Lord Sudarshan is scheduled to begin at 9.30 am. Chariot pulling is scheduled to begin at 4 pm, said a servitor.

On the occasion of Bahuda Yatra on June 28, the Pahandi procession of the deities would begin at 12 noon. The return journey of Lord Jagannath and his siblings is scheduled to begin at 4 pm on June 28.

The deities would be adorned with gold ornaments on their respective chariots at the Lions’ Gate of Srimandir by 6 pm on June 29. The devotees would have the opportunity to witness the Suna Besa ritual of the deities till 10 pm on June 29, informed the official.

SJTA Chief Administrator Ranjan Kumar Das, Puri district Collector (in-charge) Pradip Kumar Sahu, SP Kanwar Vishal Singh, members of Srimandir Managing Committee and senior servitors were present at the Chhatisha Niyog meet yesterday.
