Odisha: Srimandir receives 26 US dollars as donation

Puri: The Puri Jagannath temple today recorded 26 US dollars from the Hundi (donation box) installed on the premises of centuries-old shrine.

Besides, the temple recorded Rs 2,14,089 cash, over 14 gram gold and 96 gram silver from the donation box.

As foreign tourists are prohibited to enter the centuries old temple, it is suspected that some NRIs might have donated the foreign currencies in the Hundi.

Worth mentioning, Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) officials count money and other valuables donated in the Hundi by devotees and share the details on a notice board on regular basis.

In May last year, the temple had received foreign currency notes as donation for the first time. The temple had recorded 20 Australian and 26 American dollar currencies from the temple Hundi.
