Odisha stars heartbroken at Sridevi’s untimely, shocking death

Bhubaneswar:  Odisha film and TV stars today condoled the sudden demise of veteran Bollywood actress Sridevi, saying that she will live in their hearts and memories forever.

Speaking to our sister concern Kanak News, veteran Odia actor Mahasweta Ray said she was “shocked” and “pained” after hearing news this morning.

“For the very first time in my life, I have got news like this in the early morning. It is still unbelievable that Sridevi has died. She was brilliant actress and a wonderful human being alos,” said Mahasweta recalling her memories from her meeting with the versatile actress in Mumbai.

“I am really shocked and deeply pained,” she added.

Popular TV personality and actor Kuna Triptahy said she will be greatly missed on the big screen as no other actress can match her screen presence in playing various characters.

“Indian cinema has lost one of its versatile and supremely talented actresses today,” Tripathy said.

Popular Odia cine actor Anu Choudhury too expressed grief and shock over the sudden demise of the “Chandini” actor.

“She was truly a magical and versatile actress in the Indian cinema. We will remember her forever for her beautiful performances and wounderful personality,” Anu said.

Senior actor and politican Prasant Nanda, who said he was alos a fan of the veteran Bollywood actress, said the number of movies she did speak her versatility as an artist.

“She (Sridevi) has acted in over 300 films in different languages which itself is a proof of her talent. Everyone who loves cinema will miss her greatly,” said Nanda, who had acted and directed some Odia films before joining politics full time.

People from across the globe started their Sunday on a sad note with the news of the sudden demise of cine icon Sridevi, 54, due to cardiac arrest in Dubai. She passed away on Saturday.

Sridevi was in Dubai to attend the marriage function of actress Sonam Kapoor’s cousin Mohit Marwah, along with husband Boney Kapoor and younger daughter Khushi.

The actress is remembered for her performance is some of the iconic Bollywood films like “Mr. India”, “Nagina”, “Sadma”, “ChalBaaz”, “Chandni”, “Khuda Gawah”, among many others in different Indian languages.

The Padma Shri recipient, who made a comeback to Bollywood in 2012 with “English Vinglish” after a long break of 15 years, was last seen in “Mom” in 2017.
