Cuttack, July 30:
Renowned story-teller of Odisha, Sakuntala Panda, would receive the first Utkal Bharati Kuntala Kumari Puraskar.
The award, instituted by Utkal Bharati Kuntala Kumari Foundation, would be conferred on Panda at a special function at Sarala Bhawan at Cuttack on August 4, said Foundation secretary Choudhury Satya Das and vice president Sanjit Kumar Patnaik at a press briefing here on Tuesday.
They said that the award, instituted by the Foundation for the first time, would be given to an eminent litterateur every year.
The award carries a cash prize of Rs 20,000, a citation and a gift.
Editor of popular monthly women’s magazine Sucharita, Panda has written 15 books including ‘Suryashikha’, ‘Aneka Dina Pare’, ‘Andhakara ra Ranga’ and ‘Manjula ra Jhia’.
Besides, she has also successfully discharged her responsibility as a member of Odia advisory committee of the National Book Trust, member of Odia Film Censor Board and member of Odia advisory committee of the Kendra Sahitya Akademi.
