Odisha students’ body demands resignation of Odisha FS&CW Min Das Burma

Naba Nirmana Chhatra Sangathana, a students’ body of Odisha, today held a demonstration in front of Bhubaneswar CBI office demanding faster investigation into the allegations against Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare (FS &CW) Minister Sanjay Das Burma and sought his resignation.

“This is a case of corruption against a power government minister. Instead of fast-forwarding the investigation process and sacking the minister, the government is protecting him. We urge the Chief Minister to sack him, if he doesn’t resign. The CBI should fast-forward the investigation, arrest him and send him to Jharpada jail – where other chit fund accused leaders have been stationed,” said an agitator speaking to reporters.

“He is a corrupt man and it stands proven now. CBI won’t send a notice to someone without a reason. We demand faster investigation and stringent action against the Minister. There should be no preferential treatment accorded to him. The students of the state would take the agitation to each and every corner of the state, should the CBI and the government fail to listen,” said a female agitator.

It may be noted here that as many as 22 civil society organisations of the state under the banner of ‘Civil Society Association’ yesterday demonstrated in front of Bhubaneswar CBI office demanding faster investigation into the chit fund scam in general and the allegations against Odisha Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare (FS &CW) Minister Sanjay Das Burma in particular.
