Odisha students can take admission in MAM without entrance test

Odisha students interested in pursuing management studies have reasons to cheer. The state government has allowed students, who have not appared in the entrance test, to take admission in the Masters of Applied Management (MAM) course introduced by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).

This is what the department of Technical Education said in a notification on Thursday.

Students who have passed Plus Two in Arts, Science and Commerce, Diploma Engineering and Vocational Education with at least 45 percent of marks, can take admission in MAM, the notification said.

The first three years’ course of MAM is equivalent to Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) course introduced by several Universities while its next two year’s course is equivalent to Masters in Business Administration (MBA) course.

Though the MAM course is for five years, the students can obtain a degree in Bachelor in Management (BM) after three years.

The institutes that have been approved by the AICTE for admission in MAM are, Srusti Academy of Management, Capital Institute of Management and Science, Regional College of Engineering and Management and Biju Patnaik Institute for Information and Technology and Management.

It is worthwhile here to mention that the Odisha Management College Association (OMCA) had urged the state government to take up the matter with the AICTE to abolish entrance test for admission in MAM.

OMCA member Er Sarojkanta Sahu has thanked the state government for the decision.
