Odisha students develop UAV fire extinguisher

Burla: Students of the Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology (VSSUT) developed a unique fire extinguisher in a domain of the disaster management and drone technology here in Sambalpur district of Odisha.

The purpose behind development of the new technological innovation is to douse the flames in an affected area by using a technology installed in the missile, source in the VSSUT said.

According to reports, the startup was registered at the Electropreneur Park, Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) in Bhubaneswar, on May 25, 2020. The product is set to be launched in market at the earliest.

The missile consists of mono ammonium phosphate. The Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) weighs 8 kg and is capable of carrying 3 kg payload. It can fly with a speed of 120 kmph and extinguish fire within the radius of 50 km.

The UAV can be used for aerial scanning and it can dropped on the fire mishap site to douse the flames as well.
