Odisha SWCA clears 5 projects worth Rs 635 cr

The Single Window Clearance Authority (SWCA) of the Odisha government Friday approved five different project investment proposals worth Rs 635 crore in petroleum, garment and cement sectors, said an official release.

The SWCA meeting chaired by chief secretary G C Pati recommended Nalco’s proposal for capacity expansion of its refinery at Damanjodi in Koraput district to the High Level Clearance Authority (HLCA) headed by Chief Minister for consideration.

Notably, the public sector aluminium major has sought augmentation of its alumina refinery capacity at Damanjodi from the existing 2.275 MTPA to 3.275 MTPA. The company plans to invest Rs 4357 crore in the project.

Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL)’s LPG Bottling Plant at Rayagada with an investment of Rs 92 crore, JSW Cement Limited’s proposed 1.2 MTPA cement plant at Kalinganagar, Jajpur with an investment of Rs 318 crore, Parle Agro Private Limited’s additional manufacturing unit at Khurda Food park with an investment of Rs 2.10 crore are among the project proposals that were approved by the SWCA that clears investment proposals below Rs 1000 crore.

The other two projects approved are a garment manufacturing plant at Mancheswar in Khurda district with capacity of 28 lakh pieces per annum to be set up by M/S Pantaloon Fashion & Retail Ltd and a PET preform manufacturing unit for food and beverage products to be set up by M/S Indoroma Ventures Public Company Limited, a Singapore based company. These two projects were approved within seven days of the submission of proposals, said a senior government official. These two green category projects have a combined employment generation potential of 1740 persons will involve investment of Rs 148 crore, the senior official added.

The senior official said that fast tracking of these projects was possible because of Odisha State Pollution Control Board recently notifying these as green category projects.
