Odisha: Tension at BOSE campus following students’ protest

Cuttack: High tension prevailed on the campus of Bhubanananda Orissa School of Engineering (BOSE) here after students resorted to a strike in front of the college campus protesting unavailability of food in the college canteen.

Fumed over unavailability of food in the college canteen since last night, students locked the campus main gate and staged a stir by burning tyres outside the college. Shouting slogans against the college authorities, the students also sat on a dharna as mark of protest. Besides, the agitating students also complained about poor infrastructures in the hostel.

“There is no proper food available in the canteen. We starved last night as the canteen was closed without any prior information. We are also not getting proper hostel facilities here,” said a student requesting anonymity.

“We are deprived of basic facilities in the hostel. The quality of food in the college canteen is substandard. We have informed the college authorities about the problems several times, but to no avail. We will continue to protest until our demands are met,” said another student.

Meanwhile, police personnel have been deployed at the campus to avoid any untoward incident during the protest.
