Odisha theatre artiste Ramachandra Pratihari passes away

Puri: Veteran theatre artiste and director Ramachandra Pratihari passed away following massive cardiac attack here today.

He had been suffering from illness for a long time. He breathed his last at the age of 87.

Although Pratihari was appointed as the Pratihari servitor of the Srimandir, he had an immense weakness for stage acting. He started his acting career from Janata theatre and achieved success in the field.

Following success in theatre acting, he made debut in Ollywood in the film ‘Nua Bou’ in which he played a role of an elder brother of veteran actor Prashant Nanda. Later, he acted in the film ‘Nilamadhaba’. He was also active in jatra industry.

The State government had conferred the Jayadeb Award on him for his contribution to theatre, jatra and Odia cinema.
