Odisha to have inter-state bus terminal in Gopalpur

Bhubaneswar/Cuttack: Odisha will get its first inter-state bus terminal at Gopalpur, on outskirts of twin city Bhubaneswar and Cuttack.

The decision was made at a high level meeting chaired by Commerce and Transport Minister Dr Nrusingha Charan Sahoo at State Secretariat on Thursday.

The government has identified 42 acre at Gopalpur for the project. The Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) has been handed over the land for construction of the inter-state bus terminal.

On the other hand, the government has allocated Rs 3.3 crore for renovation of Badambadi bus stand in the millennium city Cuttack. The Police Housing Corporation has been assigned to develop the bus stand.

Initially, the Corporation has been provided Rs 1.6 crore. The tender will be finalised on August 19 and the project will commence on September 11.

Target has been set to complete the renovation project by March 2018.

The government is also considering for modernisation of bus stands in Bhawanipatna, Balangir, Jeypore and Angul. Among other proposals for the modernisation project in Jeypore, there will be a dormitory facility for the passengers’ night halt.
