Odisha to levy GST on forest produce?

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Cabinet today approved a proposal to levy Goods and Services Tax (GST) on forest produce instead of Value Added Tax (VAT), reports said.

The Cabinet reportedly decided to levy GST on wood, bamboo and kendu leaves.

Besides, the Cabinet has also given its approval for setting up of Asian Public Health University in collaboration with a private partner, reports revealed.

Moreover, a proposal to amend the Municipal Act was also approved by the Cabinet, the reports added.

Since Odisha Assembly’s winter session is underway, there was no official announcement or confirmation on decisions taken at the Cabinet meeting.
