Odisha to provide free LED bulbs to NFSA beneficiaries

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has decided to provide free LED bulbs to the beneficiaries of National Food Security Act (NFSA) from October. A decision in this regard was taken yesterday.

A new scheme namely ‘Ama Ghare LED Light Karyakram’ was approved by the State Government in its annual budget for 2018-19 fiscal. Under the scheme, two LED bulbs will be supplied to each family free of cost.

The bulbs will be distributed to the beneficiaries through PDS outlets and fair price shops on the dates specified for ration distribution. The PDS dealers will be paid commission for distribution of LED bulbs.

Around four crore LED bulbs will be provided by the government to beneficiary families free of cost and each bulb will have a warranty period of three years, an official said.
