Odisha: Toddler’s body fished out from river; mother missing

Kendrapara: Hours after a woman and her 2-year-old daughter went missing at Karanj village under Marsaghai police limits in Kendrapara district, the bodies of both were fished out from Luna river this morning.

As per reports, Sasmita Sethy and her daughter went missing late last night. Mystery surrounding the incident deepened as the bodies of both mother-daughter duo were recovered from Luna river early this morning. Acting on a complaint lodged by the Sethy’s family, Marshaghai police have begun an inquiry into the incident.

Meanwhile, locals alleged that family feud might have led to the incident.

Balaram Sethy, brother of the deceased, said “Sasmita got married two years ago. But she had been tortured by her in-laws for which she used to come to our house often. Today morning, we received a call from her in-laws, who told us about the missing of the mother-daughter duo and later about the recovery of the baby girl’s body from river.”
