MBA student’s body fished out from Damadamani dam reservoir in Odisha’s Cuttack

Choudwar: The body of an MBA student, who had gone missing yesterday after drowning in a dam at Maa Damadamani shrine near Choudwar in Cuttack district, was fished out today from the reservoir water by a joint team of ODRAF and local fire services personnel after nearly 17 hours.

The deceased has been identified as Anshuman Nayak, a resident of CDA Sector-7 in Cuttack City.

Worth mentioning, six friends from Bidanasi locality of Cuttack City had come to the dam for picnicking. Later, four of them went into the reservoir to take a bath. They drowned in water after their legs slipped deep into the water. Three youths were rescued by some locals and Anshuman was missing.

“While taking a bath, Anshuman drowned in the water and went missing. One of the friends tried to pull him out but to no avail. Anshuman could not be saved,” said one of the youths Asish Mohapatra.

“It was tough to locate the missing youth. We had to carry out a frantic search and strive for hours together. Even to the extent, we had to take the help of a diver in fishing out the youth’s body,” an ODRAF personnel said.
