Odisha turns hot cauldron as 21 places record day temp above 40 degrees Celsius

Bhubaneswar: As many as 21 places in Odisha recorded maximum temperature at 40 degrees Celsius or above today with the day temperature in the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack recording 40.2 degrees Celsius and 40.5 degrees Celsius respectively. This is the first time this season the twin city of Odisha recorded maximum temperature above 40 degrees Celsius.

As per the data provided by the Regional Meteorological Centre, Angul was the hottest at 43.5 degrees Celsius today.

Angul was followed by Balangir at 43.2 degrees Celsius, and Boudh, Baripada, Sundargarh and Dhenkanal at 42 degree Celsius.

Other places where mercury hovered 40 degrees Celsius or above are as follows: Jharsuguda – 41.8 degrees Celsius,  Titlagarh – 41.7 degrees Celsius, Sonepur – 41.6 degrees Celsius, Sambalpur – 41.3 degrees Celsius, Keonjhar and Bhawanipatna – 41 degrees Celsius, Hirakud – 40.7 degrees Celsius, Kendrapara and Nayagarh – 40.5 degrees Celsius, and Bhardak, Nuapada, Jajpur and Deogarh – 40 degrees Celsius.

The meteorological centre further forecasted there will be hardly any changes in the day temperature in next four to five days.
