Odisha: Two-day Balangir bandh begins

Balangir: The Balangir Action Committee is observing a two-day bandh in the town starting today demanding fulfillment of three major demands.

Members of the committee resorted to picketing in front of government offices and banks this morning. However, shops, business establishments, educational institutions and vehicular movement have been excluded from the ambit of the bandh.

Several organisations and associations of the district have extended support to the bandh call. The demands of the agitators are establishment of a permanent bench of the High Court here, rehabilitation and compensation for oustees of Lower Suktel project and construction of a bypass road in the town.
