Odisha: Two more junior colleges to be shut, 3 get showcause notice. Here’s why

Bhubaneswar: Taking stringent action against the junior colleges for poor performance in annual Plus Two Science examinations, the State government decided to shutdown two more colleges this year.

Two more junior colleges will be shut and the showcause notice has been served to 3 colleges for zero results in Plus Two Science examinations 2019, the Council of Higher Secondary Examination (CHSE) informed yesterday.

Last year, four junior colleges including one in Bhubaneswar were closed for poor infrastructure.

With the latest move, total six colleges will be shut in 2019-2020 academic session imposing admission restriction on these intermediate level educational institutions.

Meanwhile, the CHSE authorities have issued a showcause notice to three junior colleges for no results in the annual science examinations this year.

The colleges have been asked to submit their reports to the authorities within 7 days of the notice.

Further action will be taken if the colleges fail to reply on time, a senior official in the School & Mass Education said.
