Odisha ups job quota for differently abled by 1%

Bhubaneswar: In a significant move, the Odisha government today decided to increase reservation quota for differently abled persons from the existing 3% to 4% in government jobs.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik gave his approval to a proposal in this regard today, said an official release.

Out of the 4% quota, 1% will be reserved for differently abled women, the release added.

It will be worthwhile to mention here that the State government has implemented several welfare schemes and programmes for the differently abled.

Starting from reservation of seats in educational institutions, the government is providing various types of financial assistance and other facilities to differently abled persons.

Even special schools have been opened for them.

The government is hopeful that the increase in the percentage of reservation will help in providing more opportunity to the differently abled.
