Odisha Vigilance arrest Forest Ranger while receiving bribe

Kamakshyanagar, Aug 17:

Ranger of Mahabirod Forest Range in Odisha’s Dhenkanal district, Chittaranjan Behera was arrested by Vigilance today while receiving bribe from Dadaraghati Forester Pradeep Bhanja.

According to reports, Behera had demanded a bribe of Rs 1.5 lakh from Bhanja to pass a plantation bill. Bhanja reported the matter to Vigilance following which a trap was laid and Behera was caught red handed while receiving the money from the forester.

Following the incident, Vigilance officials conducted a raid at the residence of Behera and seized Rs 6 lakh. Investigation into the matter is on.
