Odisha Vigilance arrests cashier for receiving Rs 1 lakh bribe

Nuapada: Sisir Kumar Sahu, cashier at Project Director (Rehabilitation), Lower Indra Irrigation Project in Odisha’s Nuapada district, was today arrested by Vigilance for allegedly demanding and receiving bribe of Rs one lakh.

After seizing the bribe amount from Sahu, the state anti-corruption wing has started investigation into the incident registering a case into the matter.

According to reports, land of one Bhuban Paharia was acquired for the irrigation project. He had received first instalment of the compensation amount and was yet to get Rs 5.11 lakhs.

Sahu allegedly told Paharia to facilitate release of the rest amount demanding Rs one lakh as bribe.

Bhuban reported the matter in Vigilance following which a trap was laid and Sahu was caught red-handed while receiving the money.
