Odisha Vigilance nabs JE for bribery

The Vigilance officials today caught a Junior Engineer (JE) of WESCO red-handed while he was accepting a bribe from a person of Mahulpali village in Odisha’s Sundargarh district.

bribe takingThe arrested, identified as Sukanta Kumar Deuri (40) of WESCO’s Lepripada Section, was later forwarded to the Sambalpur Vigilance Court.

Sources in the Vigilance said, Deuri had demanded Rs 10,000 from the villagers for installation of a new transformer in the village. Later, after much persuasion, he had agreed for Rs 5,000.

In the meanwhile, the villagers informed the matter to the Sundargarh Vigilance wing.

Acting on the information, a Vigilance team, led by DSP P Kisan went to Lepripada and caught him red-handed while he was receiving the bribe from Naresh Kumar Naik.

“We have arrested the JE and forwarded him to Sambalpur Vigilance Court,” informed the DSP
