Odisha Vigilance raid Mohana Executive Engineer’s quarters

Odisha Vigilance sleuths today conducted raids for the second consecutive day with the official quarters of Executive Engineer of Rural Works Division being searched here.

According to reports, the anti-corruption wing sleuths seized 150 grams of gold, Rs 3, 24, 500 in cash and bank bonds during the raid on Sirish Chandra Sahu’s official quarters here.

Besides, some incriminating documents and bank passbooks have been detected during the raid, sources said.

Yesterday, the investigating agency officials conducted simultaneous raids on residences of Sirish Chandra Sahu on charges of amassing wealth disproportionate to his known sources of income.

The sleuths had raided the houses of the Executive Engineer at Ranihat and Cuttack Development Authority (CDA) Sector-10. The raids were conducted after Rs 1.55 lakh cash was seized from his car at Bhejiput toll gate on Friday.

A 15-member team led by Paralakhemundi Vigilance DSP Surendranath Panigrahi conducted the raids in Cuttack yesterday.

According to sources, the anti-corruption wing officials had unearthed jewellery, property documents at Ranihat house. The market value of the CDA house has been estimated nearly Rs 1 crore.

However, Sirish had denied the allegation of accumulating ill-gotten money and has claimed that he had availed a loan which he was carrying in his car. Further, he said that he has documents substantiating his claims.
