Odisha Vigilance raid: Rs 11.92 lakh cash seized from Hindol BEO’s houses

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance today recovered and seized Rs 11.92 lakh in cash from the houses of Santanu Kumar Mallik, Block Education Officer (BEO), Hindol, Dhenkanal.

While Rs 11,10,370 was recovered during search at his Bhadrak residence, Rs 82,000 was seized from his Hindol residence.

Till last reports came in, the raids were underway and total value of his movable and immovable properties was yet to be calculated.

Earlier in the day, Vigilance had arrested Mallik for allegedly demanding and accepting bribe from an Assistant Teacher.

According to Vigilance sources, the accused was receiving Rs 10,000 from the complainant this morning for releasing the latter’s pay allowance and DA arrear, which were held up due to suspension.

The entire bribe money has been recovered and seized from the possession of the BEO.

The anti-corruption agency has registered a case against the official in this connection.

Following the arrest, Vigilance officers carried out raids at his residential house located at Kuansa in Bhadrak, residential rented house at Khajuriakata Bajar and office.
