Odisha villagers’ strike against Aditya Aluminium enters fifth day

Sambalpur, Sep 29:

Hunger strike by villagers of 11 revenue villages from six panchayats in  Rengali block of Odisha’s Sambalpur district, displaced by the Aditya Aluminum project in front of the collector’s office here entered its fifth day today.

The villagers who have allegedly lost their cultivable land and are displaced due to the project are on a hunger strike demanding permanent jobs.

However, no one from the administration or any doctor has visited the strikers for examination of their health conditions, the agitators alleged.

A hunger striker Laxmikant Sandha said: “Nobody from the administration has held any discussions with us. No doctor has conducted a health check up on us”.

“We will continue our agitation till our demands are fulfilled,” said another agitator Nihar Ranjan Pradhan.
