Odisha: Woman farmer killed in lightning strike, son critical

Titlagarh: In a saddening incident, a woman farmer died when lightning struck her in Odisha’s Bolangir district today afternoon.

When the woman farmer, identified as Rebati Sahu (38) from Bheruanbhatta village under Saintala police limits was working in her agriculture field, lightning struck her. Sahu died on the spot whereas her eight-year-old son Bibhisana who was also present in the agriculture field sustained grievous injuries.

Family members admitted Bibhisana to the Saintala Community Health Centre and later shifted him to the Balangir District Headquarters Hospital after his condition deteriorated.

Following the incident, a pall of gloom descended on Bheruanbhatta village.
