Odisha woman murdered by son after she refuses to cook egg curry

Jharsuguda: A woman was beaten to death by her son in a village of Jharsuguda district after she refused to prepare egg curry, said a police official.

Jharsuguda Sadar Police Station IIC, Suchismita Mohanty stated Rajesh Bhoi aged 27 from Ib village of the district worked as labourer at a colliery. At around 9 PM yesterday, Bhoi returned home carrying eggs for dinner.

He asked his widow mother to prepare egg curry. But when Bhoi’s mother refused to prepare the dish, the youth allegedly hit her head with a sharp weapon.

Hearing the woman’s cry for help, the youth’s uncle, Hemasarag who was residing nearby reached the spot. Hemasarag found the woman wreathing in pain in a pool of blood.

After being informed by Hemasarag later, the police reached the spot and arrested Bhoi. By the time the police reached, the woman was dead.

The Jharsuguda Sadar Police Station IIC informed a forensic team also helped the police in collecting evidence. The dead body was sent for post mortem.

A murder case has been registered in connection with the incident.
