Odisha: Young woman abducted, gang raped in Jajpur

Jajpur: In a shocking incident, a young woman of Kaena village under Binjharpur police limits in Odisha’s Jajpur district was allegedly gang raped for days after being abducted by a youth of the same village.

The matter came to light after the victim managed to escape and revealed her ordeal to her parents who later lodged a complaint with the Binjharpur police.

According to the complaint lodged by the victim’s parents with the police, their daughter was abducted by a youth of the same village who later handed her over to four youths in Jajpur town. These youths allegedly held her captive at different places and gang raped her.

The victim, however, managed to escape from her the clutches of her abductors and on reaching home narrated her nightmarish experience to her parents.

“I want justice for my daughter. I want stringent punishment for the culprits,” the victim’s mother told reporters.

“The young woman’s family has lodged a complaint that their daughter was abducted and raped. On the basis of that Binjharpur police have registered a case vide no. 146/2018. The victim has been sent for medical examination. We have recorded her statement under section 164 CrPC. We have launched an investigation on the basis of her allegations,” informed Prasanta Kumar Malla, SDPO, Jajpur.
