Odisha youth attacks girl with blade inside college

Sambalpur: A youth allegedly attacked a girl student of a college with blade inside the campus injuring her grievously in Kuchinda area of Odisha’s Sambalpur district today.

The victim, a student of +3 1st year of GPR College in Kuntara here, has been admitted to a local community health centre.

According to reports, the accused entered inside the college campus identifying himself as the kin of the girl and sought a meeting with her.

On being informed by a college peon, the girl, who was attending her classes at that time, came out of the classroom to meet him. After having a brief conversation with her, the youth attacked her with a blade and immediately fled the spot.

The girl sustained critical injuries on her neck and was rushed to the hospital. Her condition is stated to be stable now.

A complaint in this regard was lodged at Kushumi police outpost, following which the youth was detained for questioning.
