Odisha youth attacks woman after her daughter rejects marriage proposal

Balasore: Police have arrested a youth for allegedly attacking a woman in Odisha’s Balasore district after her daughter rejected his marriage proposal. The accused has been identified as Sania Hui of Kendrapara.

According to reports, Sania on Facebook befriended a girl of Shyamanandipur village under Bhograi block in the district while he was working in Dubai.

He later started loving the girl and proposed her for marrying him. However, his proposal was turned down by the girl.

Being furious over rejection, Sania reached the girl’s village to seek revenge. On knowing about the girl’s absence at her house, he allegedly attacked her mother with a billhook.

The woman sustained critical injuries and was admitted to a local hospital. She was later shifted to the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack as her condition deteriorated.

Police have seized the accused’s passport from his possession. Investigation into the incident is underway.
