Youth Congress workers, who came in a procession from the ADM office here, staged a demonstration in front of the Raj Bhawan and later held a protest meeting condemning the draconian ordinance and demanded its immediate withdrawal.

Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) chief Prasad Harichandan and the Congress party’s deputy in-charge of the state Subhankar Sarkar and other senior leaders participated in the demonstration.

Youth Congress workers later submitted a memorandum to Governor S C Jamir demanding the withdrawal of the ordinance. Speakers at the meeting warned if the Centre doesn’t withdraw the ordinance, they would intensify their agitation against it in the future.

“This policy of the Modi government is not only aimed at killing farmers, but is an anti-people policy. The Youth Congress has launched an agitation against this anti-people policy of the Modi government across the country. Today Youth Congress workers of the state have staged a demonstration. In the coming days, we will intensify our agitation and take to the streets against it,” said PCC chief Harichandan.
