Odisha youth slits throat of girl for turning down marriage proposal

Mayurbhanj: A love-obsessed youth today allegedly stabbed a girl and slit her throat, who rejected his marriage proposal, in Mayurbhanj district of Odisha.

The tragic incident occurred at Sana Kuleibira village under Jamada police limits in the district.

According to reports, the duo had a heated argument today after the victim rejected the youth’s marriage proposal.

The argument turned ugly and in a fit of rage the accused attacked the girl with a knife. He slit the throat of the girl after which he injured himself.

The girl has been admitted to Rairangpur hospital and her health condition is stated to be critical.

Being informed about the incident, Jamada police rushed the spot and started investigation detaining the youth.

The accused has been identified as Krushna Chandra Satpathy of Purusottampur area in Ganjam district.
