Odisha’s 3rd plasma bank comes up at IGH, Rourkela

Rourkela: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today inaugurated a plasma bank at the Ispat General Hospital (IGH) in Rourkela for the treatment of critical COVID-19 patients.

This is the third such plasma bank in the state after SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack and Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar.

“After successful trials in Cuttack and Bhubaneswar, today we are inaugurating the third plasma therapy facility in the state. IGH, Rourkela has a task of great responsibility as public expectations are high,” the CM said after inaugurating the plasma bank through videoconference.

In the coming days, such facilities will come up at MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur and VIMSAR in Burla, said Patnaik.

Simanchal Gouda, a recovered COVID-19 patient, donated his plasma at the IGH on the occasion of the inauguration.
