Odisha’s Bhubaneswar rly station gets new building, 2nd entrance

Bhubaneswar: Union Minister of State for Railways Rajen Gohen today inaugurated second entry and a new building of Bhubaneswar Railway Station in presence of Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

The Ministers also dedicated a new building at Sakhigopal Railway Station in Puri district through video conference.

The new buildings at these two stations have reserved and unreserved ticketing system besides modern amenities for passengers.

Speaking to reporters after inaugurating the new facilities, Gohen said: “The Narendra Modi Government has done “unprecedented” work in the last three years for the development of the railway sector in the eastern region of the country.”

He also informed that the Modi government has been laying emphasis to strengthen the rail network in Odisha but the State itself is creating hurdles by not acquiring the land timely. “Over Rs 5100 crores have been sanctioned for the development of railway infrastructure in Odisha during 2017-18 financial year, but various railway projects  are not being completed in time due to land acquisition problems and other issues under State subjects which need to be addressed by the Odisha government,” the Union Minister claimed.

Union Petroleum Minister too echoed Gohen saying various new projects are in the pipeline for the development of railway infrastructure in Odisha. He also proposed to construct third foot over bridge, with an estimated cost of Rs 6 crore, at Bhubaneswar railway station.

The inauguration function was attended by East Coast Railway GM Umesh Singh, Khurda Road DRM Brajmohan Agrawal and other senior railway officials.
