Odisha’s Capital likely to be among the ‘first set of smart cities’: Report

Bhubaneswar/New Delhi: The Government of India is likely to announce seven cities including Bhubaneswar as the country’s ‘first set of smart cities.’

Bhubaneswar, Odisha’s State Capital, will be ranked among the ‘first set of smart cities’ in terms of completion of the projects being implemented to provide eco-friendly hi-tech solutions to urban problems, reported the Economic Times.

The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs had launched the ‘Smart Cities Mission’ on June 25, 2015 to address the urban problems in 100 cities. Out of them, only seven have taken the lead by completing most of the projects, the business daily reported, further mentioning that Bhubaneswar has completed 76% of the projects.

The period for the ‘Smart Cities Mission’ is ending on June 2023.
