Odisha’s CHSE to recommend action against lecturers bunking evaluation duty

Odisha’s Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) today decided to recommended disciplinary action against lecturers that have not reported to Plus II answer paper evaluation duty or dropped out without proper authorization after joining.

“We have found out that some of the lecturers are yet to report to their valuation centres. Some of them joined, but have remained absent without proper authorization after a few days. The lack of strength at the valuation centres has affected the valuation process,” said CHSE Chairman Basudeb Chhatoi.

“We have asked the zone supervisors to send us the names of the missing lecturers. We will recommend the State Government to take disciplinary action against these lecturers,” he added.

President of 488-category Block Grant College lecturers and Employees Coordination Committee Pabitra Mahala, on the other hand, clarified that the recent agitation by Block Grant lecturers has nothing to do with the absence.

“Our agitation has nothing to do with the absence. After the discussion with the State Government, we had assured CHSE of cooperation and had asked all our lecturers to stick to the decision. The absence could be because of their personal issues, recent festivities or the ongoing heat wave,” said Mahala.

With Plus II answer paper evaluation already running behind schedule, the council has been trying to push things forward to ensure that the publication of result  are not delayed.

The Council, today, announced that it will extend its first phase evaluation by two more days till April 18.
