Odisha’s comic actor Jayi to get Lifetime Achievement Award

Bhubaneswar, Feb 21:
Renowned comic actor of Odisha, Jayiram Samal, popularly known as Jayi, will be conferred with Lifetime Achievement Award at the 5th Royal Stag Mega Movies Odia Filmfare Awards at Utkal Mandap in the Odisha capital on February 28.
Jayi, who has acted in more than 200 Odia movies, is a household name in Odisha and commands a special place in the flim industry. He will be receive a cash award of Rs 10,000 cash, a citation and a gift.
Along with Jayi, other actors from Odia film industry will be awarded in 32 different categories. Apart from this, the organisers have introduced Best Cinema Hall, Best Spot Boy and Best Art Director awards from this year.
The prestigious award ceremony will also witness high-voltage cultural programmes by artists from Odisha and West Bengal.
“The event will also host a special programme ‘Asha o Biswas’(Hope and Faith) for kids suffering from cancer and donate Rs 1,00,000 for the noble cause,” said chairman of the award ceremony Ullas Chandra Behura in a press meet at Hotel Presidency here .
The entry passes for the event will be issued at Utkal Mandap on February 26 and 27.
Among others, director Chintu Mishra, Soumyajit Parida, Ashok Das, chief advisor Bapu Lenka, Prashant Mohanty and Arup Das were also present.
