Odisha’s COVID-19 tally breaches 40,000-mark with 1699 fresh cases

Bhubaneswar:  Odisha’s COVID-19 tally today breached 40,000-mark after 1699 new positive cases were detected in the state in the last 24 hours. The tally now stands at 40,717, informed the Government.

While 1073 cases have been reported from different quarantine centres, remaining 626 are local contacts. Contact tracing and followup action is underway, said the Health and Family Welfare Department.

The fresh cases have been reported from 29  districts- highest from Ganjam (268) followed by Khordha (220), Angul (17), Balasore (17), Bargarh (81), Bhadrak (66), Balangir (21), Boudh (8), Cuttack (105), Dhenkanal (27), Gajapati (59), Jagatsinghpur (16), Jajpur (41),  Jharsuguda (10), Kalahandi (30), Kandhamal (74),  Kendrapada (27),  Keonjhar (56),  Koraput (41),  Malkangiri (72), Mayurbhanj (24), Nabarangpur (16),  Nayagarh (25),  Nuapada (3), Puri (67), Rayagada (19), Sambalpur (101), Sonepur (10) and Sundargarh (178).

In the last 24 hours,  15,086 swab samples were tested. So far 6,00,591 tests have been conducted in the state.
