Odisha’s Dibya Jyoti emerges as state topper in Civil Services Exam

As many as 1078 aspirants, of which at least 23 from Odisha, have qualified for the Civil Services Examination conducted by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), results of which were declared today.

While Delhi’s Tina Dabi topped the examination, Athar Aamir Ul Shafi Khan of Jammu and Kashmir secured the second rank and Jasmeet Singh Sandhu from Delhi bagged the third rank.

The candidates who have qualified from Odisha are: Dibya Jyoti Parida (26), Anupam Mishra (81), Ashok Mishra (122), Kshama Mishra (172), Sagarika Nath (199), Amitabh Mishra (260), Smriti Mishra (269), Rahul Deo (279), Abhilash Mishra (341), Subhankar Mohapatra (367), Dhiman Barai (398), Suman Sourav Mohanty (413), Himadri Bhusan Biswal (516), Ashish Kumar Senapati (548), Kaustuva Dipta Pany (551), Aparajita Das (560), Pramod Nayak (779), Sheeti Kanta Das (946), Sridhar Das (974), Subhralin Das (993), Dipak Kumar Murmu (1031), Shri Kant Mantri (1048) and Indrajit Panda (1075).

The topper from the state, Dibya Jyoti—a post graduate in Botany with specialisation in genetics– cleared the exam in the third attempt.

“I would give the credit to my parents who are a source of inspiration to me. Their work ethics, integrity and honesty as government servants have inspired me. I was determined to crack the Civil Services exam in this attempt,” an ecstatic Dibya Jyoti said.

Notably, the parents of Dibya Jyoti are working as scientists with Central Rice Research Institute (CRRI).

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik congratulated the successful candidates and wished them luck for their future endeavour.

“Odisha students have proved their talent at national level. I hope the successful candidates will prove as able administrators in the coming future,” Naveen Patnaik said.

Of the 1078 candidates recommended for the appointment, 499 are from general category, 314 OBCs, 176 SCs and 89 are from ST category.

Notably, 180 candidates have qualified for Indian Administrative Service (IAS), 150 for Indian Police Service (IPS) and 45 for Indian Foreign Service (IFS), 728 have qualified for Central Services Group ‘A’ and 61 from Group ‘B’.
