Behera was produced in the court, which sent him to judicial custody as the Crime Branch police did not seek further remand.

During the four-day remand, the Crime Branch police have elicited vital information from Behera which would help them expedite their investigation, sources in the police said.

The Crime Branch police, in course of investigation, came to know about the financial transaction between Ishwar and his friend Chittaranjan, an employee of ITR. On January 4, the Crime Branch took Chittarajan for interrogation.

The Crime Branch, which has collected vital information relating to his bank account and phone calls during interrogation, is expected to rev up its investigation.

The state investigating wing is still in the process of finding out if Behera was acting alone or there were other persons involved in the case.

It may be mentioned that Behera was arrested on January 23 on charges of spying for Pakistani intelligence agency ISI.
