Odisha’s KISS boy selected for Asian Rugby Championship

Bhubaneswar, May 24:

Muna Murmu, a +3 final year Arts student of Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) has found place in the India team to participate in the Asian 15-A-Side Rugby Championship which will be held at Tashkent in Uzbekistan from from May 27 to 30.

Muna MurmuMuna has been representing India for last three years. He has played for India in Malaysia, Sri Lanka and Thailand .

The India team will proceed for Uzbekistan on 25th may 2015.

India will play its first match with Uzbekistan on May 27 followed by the second match against Pakistan on May 28.

The selection-cum-coaching camp of the Indian team was held in New Delhi.

Besides Muna, Rajkishore Murmu, Chitta Ranjan Murmu, Gouranga Jamuda of KISS had also participated.

Earlier, Muna had represented India in Asian under-20 Rugby Championship held at Laos in 2010 and visited France in 2009.

Muna belongs to a very poor Santal tribal family of Chudanga in Khurda district.

Expressing happiness over Muna’s success founder, KIIT and KISS Dr Achyuta Samanta said he is not only the pride of his father Surendra and mother Neha Murmu, but also the pride of entire tribal community.
