Odisha’s own Disney World to come up in Chilika

Bhubaneswar: The much awaited film city in Odisha where tourists will have Disney World-like experience will come up soon in Asia’s largest brackish water lagoon Chilika.

The proposed project born from ‘Make in Odisha’ campaign launched by Odisha government to make investment in film production sector will be in reality as the film city will be set up at investment of Rs 5,000 crore on Chilika shore.

The city will be built up in total area of 1,000 acre, out of which 370 acre has been allotted so far for beginning the project in Chilika.

The proposed film city in Chilika will surpass other film cities in national and international level in terms of infrastructure and design, said Bollywood film producer Mushtaq Nadiadwala, who also heads the film city project, during his visit to state capital yesterday.

Total Rs 5,000 crore has been allocated for the film city project. The architects and sculptors of Dubai, Singapore and London are preparing the blueprint and design for the city. The project will be completed within two years. Apart from facilities of star hotel and film shooting spot featured in Ramoji Film City, arrangement will be made for shooting complex and shooting floor using advanced technology in Chilika film city, Nadiadwala said.

The light, sound and several scenes will be controlled in remote for which time will be spent less for setting lights for film shooting. Special facilities will be provided for shooting of Odia films in the film city. At least 15 films can be shot simultaneously in the mega film city in Chilika. Apart from creating job opportunities for youths in Odisha, the number of tourists will also rise. The hotel and travel sectors will also get benefits from the project, he added.

With completion of the project, the film city in Chilika will turn into the biggest hub for amusement for tourists.
