Odisha’s Rashmita secures berth in Women’s Hockey Team for Asia Cup

Bhubaneswar: Rashmita Minz from Odisha has been added to 18-member team of Indian Women’s Hockey for 9th Women’s Asia Cup 2017 scheduled at Kakamigahara in Japan from Oct 28 till Nov 5.

Earlier, four others from the state had been selected for the upcoming hockey event. They included Deep Grace Ekka, Sunita Lakra, Namita Toppo and Lilima Minz.

The selectors had kept Rashmita on standby while announcing the squad for Asia Cup.

However, the player got an opportunity to take part in the competition after Suman Devi Thoudam, who was in the team as defender, suddenly fell sick.

The Indian Women’s team led by Rani Ramphal will face Singapore, China and Malaysia in Pool A.
